Piece inspired by the philosophical notion of unity of opposites, which states that "the existence or identity of a thing depends on the co-existence of at least two conditions which are opposite to each other, yet dependent on each other and presupposing each other, within a field of tension." In order to reach absolute equilibrium we need the 2 polar opposite extremes; otherwise, we would be out of balance overtaken by one side.

In the painting, this is represented by the difference in mass between the 2 entities- one is present and solid, while the other is ghost-like, fading away. The wings emphasise the freedom unlocked by the serenity reached through the fusion of the 2 opposites. The stormy background illustrates the journey through life's challenges.
